Gemini Waverider 505 Inflatable
The Waverider 505 starts to get us into the larger range of boats offered by Gemini. The 505 was developed from our very successful 5.0 m which was used for rescue work and is still approved to meet SOLAS regulations. The new 505 differs in that this model kicks up at the front to give a drier ride and is a bit wider to give that extra room. Basically it is still the main shape 5.0 m and it is still regarded as one of the best inshore rescue boats ever built.
It has a 30-degree vee at the front, which gives it an extremely soft, ride for a boat this size. It has a barrelled front bow section, which benefits its ride in a following sea.

Standard Features:
The 505 has an under deck stowage compartment in which a 70 lt fuel tank can be fitted if required. The large open deck has a non-slip finish and a self-bailing deck.
The hull features (as do all models above this size) an Aluminum keel strip. The strip is attached to a box section of the keel of the boat. This box section is an intricate part of the mould. We fill the box section internally with chop strand matting that is manipulated into a rope type length, we then use extra woven roving to form over the top of this to make a solid keel internally. The alloy keel protector is screwed onto the outside of this solid box section. This allows the boat to run up on beaches or rocks with out damaging the keel or if you miss the trailer when you are recovering the boat. This procedure gives the Gemini craft a very strong backbone and the boat can be lifted from the bow eye and the boat will not split. This feature sets Gemini apart from any other inflatable manufacture that we know of on the market. Other companies have copied but this is only external and their internal work does not produce the same results that we achieve.
The 505 have a series of spray strakes in the hull, which gives the boat fine performance and a soft ride.
It can be fitted with a Commander 6000 console (stand up with seat on the front) or 5000 console (stand up no seat on front). Or it can be fitted with a Commander 400 console (two-person jockey), with either of the above options there is still room for a reversible rear lounge. The 505 can take either a single or twin motor installation with a 90 hp being the best option.
